How to play Futoshiki

Fill the square so every row and every column contains each number from 1 to N exactly once — like a mini sudoku. The catch is the < and > signs between some cells: the values must obey them. Combine the Latin-square rule with the inequalities to deduce the one solution as fast as you can.

Futoshiki — frequently asked questions

What do the arrows mean?

Each “greater than” / “less than” sign forces the relationship between its two neighbouring cells.

Is it like sudoku?

The row/column rule is the same, but there are no boxes — the inequalities replace them as clues.
